Perfect Timing Review

It is 2017, the Hip-Hop rap scene is full of capable rappers who would kill for a collaboration with the one and only Metro Boomin. Yet it was the Canadian producer-turned-rapper “NAV” who Metro thought it was necessary to collab with and produce and hour of traptastic magic.

Nav, also known as @BeatsbyNav on SoundCloud has produced music for years. Lowkey known for producing one of Drake’s diss tracks “back to back”, but better known for his first album ‘NAV’, which he produced himself. Simmering from all the hype, NAV needed this gift of an album to keep him in the #trending column. You could say it was “Perfect Timing”. Young Metro’s beats and infectious production is sought-after, bouncy trap bass putting listeners into a hypnotic trance, making NAV’s scanty bars half decent for the average listener. Though at this point in time, Nav’s musical abilities are still relatively unknown rather undeveloped, The Perfect Timing LP is aptly titled as it describes his basis for celebrity. The album consists of 15 songs for a total of 55 minutes. Throughout we see top tier features, including XO’s very own Lil Uzi Vert, Belly, as well as 21 Savage, Playboi Carti, Offset and Gucci Mane. The attitude of the tracks ranges from hyped music to deep and slow rhythmic beats. Overall a hit and did its job, NAV has been on the map ever since.

Though three years old, this album holds to today’s Hip-Hop standards and remains on my playlist. Metro Boomin and NAV collaborated on a GOD TIER project propelling NAV to be the star he is today. Perfect Timing 2, please…
